Masterful

I have experience with reading and writing music, but after doing this project I walked away with the knowledge of creating an entire composition and learning to play the drums.
The Process...
We created many drafts of our compositions similar to what we do when we’re writing an English paper. As well as the reflections we completed at the end of each section of our pieces reminded me of things we do in English class.
Christa's Reflection
The name of my piece is Masterful. Although I didn’t play my own piece, I did take the time out to create it and I’m very proud of it. My intro was kind of a spin off of what my main theme would be, but at the same time the don’t relate at all. I did that on purpose and at the end of my intro I made it so the audience would think there was more to come, which there was. Continuing on to my main theme, the most challenging part was trying to keep the same type of rhythm but not be repetitive at the same time. My entire piece as a whole was very intense to keep the audience’s attention, but I made my bridge the most intense. The dramatic change in rhythm and the additional beats made my bridge the most intense part of my piece. When I made my return to theme I just took pieces from my original theme and placed them in a way in which it seemed to lead to the ending of the song. I sort of did the same thing for the ending of the song except I added a fake ending(with a noticeable pause), followed by the real ending. I have experience with reading and writing music, but after doing this project I walked away with the knowledge of creating an entire composition and learning to play the drums a little bit. The most enjoyable part of this process was playing and learning other people’s compositions and seeing people trying to play my own piece. We created many drafts of our composites similar to what we do when we’re writing an English paper. As well as the reflections we completed at the end of each section of our pieces reminded me of things we do in English class. The working together aspect of the project was also closely related to things we do in other classes. If I had to change one thing about this project, it would be playing on material other than buckets(trash cans, etc). Other than that, I would do this project again, it was fun!
